Description
The Minnesota Veterans Home (MVH)-Bemidji is seeking to fill a Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor position. It pays to consider a rewarding career with the MVH-Bemidji! The position provides clinical supervisory oversight of technical nursing staff in the delivery of quality care to the residents of the home. Directs and implements the Minimum Data Set (MDS) process and care planning process, per federal guidelines, to meet the residents' physical and psychosocial needs. The position performs Officer of the Day (OD) duties as assigned, which may include a rotation of on-call support to the home amongst nursing leaders.
The responsibilities of the position include:
- Supervising Licensed Practical Nurses and Human Services Technicians-Certified Nursing Assistants to ensure employees effectively perform assigned job duties.
- Guiding and coordinating with staff on completing the MDS/Resident Assessment Instrument per regulatory guidelines.
- Providing clinical guidance, oversight and support for the daily operations of the nursing unit.
- Providing guidance to the nursing department team regarding state and federal regulatory requirements.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Please ensure that your resume/application clearly describes your experience in the areas listed below and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.
- Licensed in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse with no restrictions and in good standing.
- Four years of experience as a RN*, including two years of RN experience in a long-term healthcare setting. (*Note: A Bachelor’s degree in nursing may substitute for one year of the RN experience requirement. A Master’s degree in nursing may substitute for 18 months of the RN experience requirement.)
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. - Knowledge of Minimum Data Set (MDS) and Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) processes sufficient to obtain MDS/RAI certification within the probationary period.
- Human relations and leadership skills sufficient to effectively direct, guide, influence and supervise nursing department staff.
- Communication skills sufficient to communicate effectively with others and prepare and present information to various individuals and groups.
- Skills in clinical documentation and computer applications, including an electronic health record system such as PointClickCare, to document and ensure staff are documenting resident care in an accurate, complete and timely manner.
