The CVOR is led by board-certified, fellowship-trained, and internationally respected physician leaders known for advancing minimally invasive and complex cardiac and thoracic surgical techniques.
In partnership with Hoag Heart & Vascular Institute, the CVOR supports a comprehensive range of procedures, including open heart surgery, valve repair and replacement, CABG, thoracic aortic interventions, and advanced vascular cases. The program emphasizes clinical excellence, patient safety, innovation, and measurable quality outcomes.
Requirements
Responsibilities
Provides direct care to high-acuity cardiac patients.
Coordinates with perfusionists, anesthesiologists, and surgeons.
Prepares OR and verifies specialized cardiac equipment.
Maintains sterile field and monitors vitals/hemodynamics.
Manages blood coolers and assists with advanced cardiac devices.
Responds to emergencies (e.g., cardiac arrest, hemorrhage).
Documents intraoperative events and ensures proper handoff to PACU/CVICU staff.
Participates in on-call coverage as required, with a response time of 30 minutes upon notification.
