Senior Emergency Mental Health Clinician | VIC

• Permanent Full/Part Time opportunity

• Based at our Northern Area Mental Health Service (NAMHS) in Northern Hospital, Epping

• Multidisciplinary role – Occupational Therapist, Registered Psychiatric Nurse, Social Worker

The Northern Area Mental Health Service (NAMHS) provides a comprehensive range of specialist mental health services to people who reside in the local government areas of Darebin and Whittlesea. 

We’re looking for Clinicians who thrive on working autonomously as well as part of a larger team of dedicated and talented people. This fantastic opportunity with the Emergency Mental Health Team at the Northern Hospital, is now available and waiting for the right person. Our team of specialist clinicians want you to join them in providing innovative, recovery focused care to those people who present to the Emergency Department experiencing a mental health crisis.

About your new role:

  • Work in partnership with consumers, patients and where applicable carers and families.
  • Ensure risk management activities are completed, effective controls are in place and incidents are recorded, investigated and corrective actions implemented as far as is reasonably practical.
  • Seek feedback on your work including participation in annual performance discussion.
  • Create a psychologically safe work environment where everyone feels safe to speak up.
  • Monitor and achieve relevant KPIs and targets and operate within their allocated budget.

About you:

  • Capacity to undertake alcohol and other drug screening, assessment, treatment planning, brief interventions with consumers who have co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to practice utilising the recovery approach in mental health treatment and support, with a focus on working collaboratively with consumers and carers to promote self-determination and enable progress towards reaching personal recovery goals.
