Coordinate and manage the homeless population and issues within Sarasota County. Serve as an integral member of the County’s Homeless Outreach Team and other community partners to assist in the management of the homeless population.

General Description of Duties
The essential functions include but are not limited to: assessment/diagnostic skills, capacity to form relationships with members and maintain therapeutic alliance, assist members in accomplishing their treatment plan goals and objectives, ability to provide a variety of treatment modalities: individual, group, family, case management, and crisis intervention. Coordinate and implement new programs, prepare case record documentation, monthly statistics and other information as needed. Actively participate in staff and board committee meetings, develop a plan with each member, facilitate collaborative services needed and provide intervention counseling when necessary. Provide in-home and/or on the street consultation and crisis intervention with members, have an excellent grasp of theory and application as it relates particularly to homelessness issues and economic challenges. Must be able and willing to partner with law enforcement officers and work/interact with homeless members of the community. Must be available to work flexible hours and be accessible for crisis interventions with the homeless population and have the ability to coordinate with a Psychiatrist or Psychologist when mental health assessment or diagnosis is warranted.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Psychiatry. A minimum of four (4) years related work experience. (The term “experience,” refers to active full-time employment, either in the same position, or directly related to the position applied for. The experience must have occurred within the three (3) years prior to application with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.) Formal education should include psychosocial functioning, assessment skills and intervention strategies, mobilizing individual and/or family strengths, and the role of social, economic, and environmental factors in the development and resolution of person and family problems. 2 years supervised experience providing mental health services preferred. Effective verbal and written skills along with awareness for human diversity to citizens and colleagues.
