Description
The School of Nursing at Stony Brook University invites applications for a 0.8 - 1.0 FTE faculty position. Candidates with recent practice experience as a Nurse Practitioner, and who demonstrate mastery in clinical care and evidence based practice to enhance curriculum delivery and development in the Graduate and Doctoral programs are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be an experienced nurse leader and educator with a record of academic, clinical, and/or scholarly excellence and a commitment to advancing practice-focused doctoral education that prepares nurses to lead innovation and improve healthcare outcomes.
The candidate will also be expected to assume the role of the Program Director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. The Program Director reports directly to the Chair of the Department with secondary consultation from the Associate Dean, Academic Affairs, and the Dean. The DNP Program Director is responsible for delivering a high quality educational program for students within the DNP program. It is expected that the program will be in compliance with all professional standards, guidelines and benchmarks as outlined in the School of Nursing Evaluation Plan consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the School of Nursing. The Program Director is accountable for successful teaching and learning practices within the DNP program. Workload offset will be calculated into the teaching requirement to achieve the expectations of this role.
As a Clinical Instructor/Clinical Assistant Professor/Clinical Associate Professor, you are expected to contribute to the educational, research, clinical, and service mission of the School of Nursing. The school of nursing clinical faculty are leaders in the implementation of innovative student-centered learning strategies for the development of strong clinical reasoning skills in graduates. Candidates who excel in the delivery of online and hybrid teaching formats are strongly encouraged to apply.
All candidates should be prepared to pursue the Scholarship of Teaching in the development of critically reflective knowledge about teaching and learning. Such an approach emphasizes the development, testing, and dissemination of advances in both pedagogy and andragogy. Candidates at the Clinical Assistant/Clinical Associate Professor level are also expected to contribute to the tripartite mission of a major research intensive university by contributing to the research/scholarship and practice/service mission of the university. This position may provide/allow options to continue to engage in clinical practice opportunities.
All candidates should be prepared to mentor students as future nurse leaders and foster collaborative interdisciplinary learning experiences that expand student understanding of patient-centered care.
Rank and salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Nurse Practitioner NYS and National Certification
- Valid NY State Professional Nurse License
- Recent Nurse Practitioner Experience
- Teaching Experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Doctoral Degree (or foreign equivalent) - Earned or In Progress
- Upper Division Teaching Experience
- Leadership/Supervisory Experience
- Evidence Based Practice process experience
