 Position Overview:
We are seeking a strategic and compassionate leader to serve as Chief Nursing Officer. The CNO will oversee nursing services across ANMC, ensuring high-quality, culturally sensitive patient care. This role includes leadership in clinical operations, nursing education, regulatory compliance, and strategic planning.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

•        Lead and align nursing services with organizational goals.
•        Oversee nursing practice standards, quality assurance, and professional development.
•        Manage department performance, staffing, and budgeting.
•        Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards.
•        Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to advocate for nursing resources.
•        Drive initiatives toward Magnet designation and Pathways to Excellence.

Knowledge & Skills Required:

•        Deep understanding of nursing standards, healthcare regulations (Joint Commission, CMS, HIPAA), and ANA codes.
•        Expertise in nursing theory, research, and culturally sensitive care—especially Alaska Native cultures.
•        Strong leadership and team management skills, including staff development and interdisciplinary collaboration.
•        Strategic thinking and decision-making in complex healthcare environments.
•        Experience with performance improvement, data systems, and quality metrics.
•        Skilled in communication, resource advocacy, and aligning organizational goals across departments.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Master’s degree in nursing or related field
• RN license in the State of Alaska
• 5+ years in nursing management
• 3+ years in executive leadership
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

       Preferred:

• Doctorate in nursing or related field
• 10+ years in nursing leadership
• NEA-BC or CENP certification
